Beulah E. Adams, 105, of Humboldt, passed away June 2, 2015 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Christy Ehrle officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt
Beulah Edna Adams was born January 5th 1910 at her parent’s farm in rural Humboldt County, Iowa. Her parents were Archie Levi Goodell and Mabel (Nedermire) Goodell. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1927, and then went on to, Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, IA, for a 2 yr. Teaching certificate. She taught in Webster County until her marriage. Later in life she resumed her studies and received her BA degree at Buena Vista College on Aug. 15, 1964. She taught at Bradgate, Ottosen, Hardy and Renwick elementary schools for several years before retiring.
Beulah was married to Carroll Calvin Adams June 17th 1931 at the Humboldt Methodist parsonage by The Rev. Joseph Share. After they were married they lived on a farm west of Humboldt, later moved to a farm in Wacousta Township. Carroll passed away in 1961. Beulah had many interests including genealogy, playing piano, sang alto in college, church choirs, county chorus and Sweet Adelines, played bells in Humboldt Methodist church, directed Bradgate Methodist church choir from late 1940's into the 1960's, enjoyed rock collecting, was a member of Humboldt Co. Historical Society, Humboldt Genealogical Society, WSCS (Methodist Ladies group), Bradgate and Humboldt Methodist Churches, and the Rebecca Lodge. She liked many kinds of needlework including knitting, crocheting, sewing, and making quilts. Her specialty was making Raggedy Ann dolls for the Historical Society to sell. She loved all kinds of flowers and especially liked growing many colors of irises.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (John) Haromy of Lake Wales, Fl. and two sons, Ronald (Judy) Adams of St. Louis Park, MN, and Alan (Mardell) Adams of Cedar Rapids, IA plus 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. There are also many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Carroll, her parents, her beloved son Warren Adams of Gilmore City, IA, her daughter Fern (Hal) Thomas of St. Louis, MO, two sons-in-law, John (Barb) Haromy of Lake Wales, FL and Hal (Fern) Thomas of St. Louis, MO and a stillborn great grandson David McLaughlin of Des Moines, IA (Jaime and Dave's). She had two deceased brothers, Clarence (Etta) Goodell of Humboldt, IA, Harold (Thelma) Goodell of Idaho Falls, ID, and one sister Helen (Amos) Hertz of Laurens, IA. Two sisters-in-law also deceased are Etta (Clarence) Goodell of Humboldt, IA and Thelma (Harold) Goodell of Idaho Falls, ID plus one brother-in-law Amos (Helen) Hertz of Laurens, IA.
In lieu of flowers, you may direct your memorials to the Faith United Methodist Church music ministry, the Humboldt County Historical Society or to the family.
