Darold R. McKenna

Darold R. McKenna, 81, of rural Hardy, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born March 5, 1942 in rural Renwick the son of Robert and Aurilla (Blesie) McKenna.  He grew up in Hardy and graduated from Boone Valley High School in Renwick.  Darold was united in marriage to Judy Ann Barr on November 5, 1963.  The couple made their home in the Hardy area where they farmed.  He also worked at the Algona Livestock Auction and for 15 years at Yacht Club Trailers, retiring in 2012.  Darold enjoyed hunting and fishing and in retirement helping with the livestock on the farm.

He is survived by his children Leeann Kay McKenna of Humboldt, Robert Wayne (Angela) McKenna of Bode and Mark McKenna of Hardy, his grandchildren Amber, Caleb, Kenny, Alexandria, Cordell, Kyle and Adrienne, his great-grandchildren Jaelah, Aria and Clary and his sister Sandra (Don) Prilipp of Algona. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, his sister Kathy Hill and grandson Chris.
