Delma E. Guderian

Delma Eileen (Seaver) Guderian, 101, of Humboldt, passed away quietly and peacefully on Thursday morning, August 31, 2023, in the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, knowing God would be there to take her hand into heaven.  She decided it was time to reconnect with so many family members and friends from long ago.

She was born November 3, 1921 in Humboldt, the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Adams) Seaver.  She was united in marriage to Julius A. Guderian on November 30, 1941.  The couple made their home on their farm until retiring into Gilmore City.  Following Julius death in 1990 she moved to Humboldt to be near her son Les.  Delma was always hard working and never asked or needed much.  She truly enjoyed the farm life and was an excellent cook using items produced on the farm.  There was nothing she enjoyed more than cooking a great meal for her family and friends.  She could be found busy with her hands either cooking, sewing, crocheting or knitting.  She made numerous baby hats, sweaters, blankets, afghans, lap robes, quilts, doilies, table cloths and table linens for the church to be donated to worthy charities.  Far too many to count.  All items were made by hand and with love.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City for 41 years.

Delma is survived by her daughter Louise (Dennis) Link of Davenport, son Les (Jone) Guderian of Humboldt, daughter-in-law Marolyn Guderian Hill (Bruce) of Fort Dodge, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and her sister Shirley Nielsen of Humboldt.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Julius, son Raymond, her brother and sister and Julius’s parents, brothers and sisters.

Rest in peace Mom and know we will miss you each and every day.  Please greet all the family members for us as you greet them in heaven and know we will be reunited when God decides.
