Donna G. Grebner, 76, of Humboldt, passed away December 14, 2014 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Donna Gail Grebner, the daughter of Chester and Bonita (Bowen) Edwards, was born June 2, 1938 at home in Dakota City, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Dakota City and Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1957. On June 11, 1958, she was united in marriage to Marvin Grebner at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Humboldt. The couple made their home in Humboldt where Donna was employed in the First National Bank until the birth of their second child. Donna then returned to work at the Humboldt Trust and Savings Bank then Bank Iowa until her retirement.
Donna was a former member of the Silver Sisters and a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and E.L.C.W. She loved flowers and was proud of her flower gardens. She enjoyed coffee with her friends and in her retirement took great pride in acquiring her driver’s license, which she used to visit friends, her sisters, and other family members.
Donna is survived by her husband of 56 years, Marvin Grebner of Humboldt; her children, Teresa (Jon) Grice of Humboldt and Matthew Grebner of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Sam and Meg Grice and Cole Grebner; brother, Cliff (Barb) Edwards of Highland, UT; six sisters, Jean Watts of Humboldt, Pat Sleiter of Humboldt, Marilyn (Bob) Torgerson of Humboldt, Joyce (Winton) Hansen of Humboldt, Helen (Kent) Thorson of Clarinda, and Judy (Dave) Pedersen of Harlan; brother-in-laws, Larry (Ione) Grebner and Leo (Linda) Grebner, all of Humboldt and John Vought of Radcliff; sister-in-law, Donna (Dale) Carman of Humboldt; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marian; brother, Jack Edwards; sister-in-law, Betty Vought; brothers-ion-law, Ron Watts and Ervin Sleiter; and nieces and nephews.
