Edward D. "Ed" Allen

Edward David "Ed" Allen, 94, of Humboldt, passed away on December 20, 2025 in the Long-Term Care facility of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

He was the son of Edward David and Della Marie (Nowlan) Allen and was born on July 24, 1931, in Mason City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the Mason City area and graduated from Orchard High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Marcele Marie Leach on March 20, 1951. They made their home in northern Iowa, residing in Charles City, Spencer, and Storm Lake.

In 1971 they moved to Humboldt where Ed purchased Humboldt Springs Water. Previous to his work as a private business owner, he served 20+ years in the Army National Guard, was an Iowa Highway Patrolman, a pilot for the Iowa Highway Patrol, a special agent with the Iowa Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and later Police Chief in Humboldt. He was a member of the United Congregation Church in Humboldt.

Ed is survived by his children: Marcia (Brian) Johnson of Mansfield, Texas; Richard (Diane) Allen of Humboldt; Mike (Nancy) Allen of West Des Moines; Doug (Gwen) Allen of Mansfield, Texas; and Randy (Susan) Allen of Humboldt. He is also survived by grandchildren Michele, Kristine, Jessie, Jason, Justin, Joey, Billy, Donna, Hilary, Natalie, Cody, Heidi, Jenni, Amber, and Aimee, 29 great grandchildren and his daughter-in-law Becky Allen of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marcele Allen, brothers and sister, son Andy Allen, and his grandsons Christopher Lee Allen and Nicholas J. Allen.

Public Funeral Services will be held at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30th. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Burial with military rites by the Sathers-Odgaard VFW & American Legion will follow at Union Cemetery in Humboldt.    www.masonlindhart.com
