Gene L. Pedersen

May 20, 1944 — October 11, 2022

Gene Pedersen, 78 of Humboldt, passed away peacefully at home, in his favorite chair with Fox News on the TV on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Gene Le-Roy Pedersen was born on May 20, 1944 to Andrew and Essie (Gregersen) Pedersen in Humboldt. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1964. He was united in marriage to Karen (Hoover) on March 18, 1967. They made their home in Gilmore City until 1974, when they moved to the Pedersen family farm west of Humboldt. They resided there until 2000, when they moved into Humboldt.
He worked several different jobs throughout his working life, but by far, his favorite job was being a Correctional Officer at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility, where he worked from 2000 until his retirement in 2006. After his retirement, he was able to enjoy spending time with his family, having morning coffee with his friends at Hy-Vee, riding his Harley, attending numerous car shows, watching his Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and having his cat, Boots, on his lap. He loved being Papa to his 4 grandchildren and his lap became the favorite napping spot for all the grandbabies.

Gene was skilled in so many different areas and always worked hard to provide for his family. He was a self-taught handyman that could fix anything. He loved participating in car shows, showing off his classic cars, and talking to anyone that shared his love for cars.

Gene is survived by his wife, Karen, his children Marc, Andrew (Erin) Pedersen, and Jenny Ruby all of Humboldt, his grandchildren Jacob, Darla, Amelia, and Adelynn, and his brothers Darwin (Evelyn) Pedersen of Humboldt and Myles (Shirley) Pedersen of Laurens. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Irvin and Gerald. I’m sure he is having a cold one with his friends Joe, Jim, Royal, and Cletus that passed before him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th and visitation will be after 12:00 noon both at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. His family requests that if you have a classic car, please bring it on Saturday. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
