Georgia L. Sorensen

Georgia L. Sorensen 87 passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. 

Georgia was born on the Watts family farm outside of Rutland, Iowa, October 8, 1936, the youngest child of 10 siblings born to parents Jesse and Perina (Petersen) Watts. Georgia attended country school in Rutland before entering High School in Humboldt. On June 9, 1953 Georgia married Marvin J. Sorensen. To this union 6 children were born. Georgia was a dedicated housewife and mother who enjoyed cooking. Family favorites were her oatmeal cookies and apple crisp. She had a large garden every year which helped to feed the family. Georgia enjoyed annual motorcycle trips with her husband to the Mississippi looking at the Fall colors. She always remembered to send family members birthday and anniversary cards even as the family grew. 

Georgia is survived by her children Steve Sorensen, Jeff (Kerin) Sorensen, Vickie Sorensen, Curt (Deb) Sorensen. 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and sister Alice Goodell. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marv, siblings Joyce Kessel, Wayne, Kenny, Russ, Cecil, Ronald Watts, Eunice Blomker, Virginia Hansen, daughters Kathrine Sorensen and Annette (Sorensen) Dirks and grandson Jeremy Sorensen.

Private Family Services will be held at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt and burial will follow in Indian Mound Cemetery. www.masonlindhart.com
