Irene Schwint, born on September 26, 1935, in Rockwell City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Florida. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites were observed. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. www.masonlindhart.com

Irene was the daughter of Walter and Edna Wendt. She graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1953 and later attended Iowa Central College in Fort Dodge. In 1954, she married Don Zuck and welcomed two children, Steve and Tracy. Although that marriage ended, Irene found love again with Richard Schwint, whom she married in 1961.

Together they had two sons, Brian and Ronald. Richard’s passing in 1991 was a profound loss for the whole family.

Irene worked as a dispatcher for the Humboldt Police Department until her retirement in 2001. After retiring, she moved to Hunter’s Run Retirement Community in Zephyrhills to escape the harsh Iowa winters. She remained active in her community and Lutheran church and cherished time spent with family and friends. Irene had a passion for travel, cruises, local dances, card games, golfing, cheering for the Hawkeyes, and exploring her German heritage through family ancestry.

She was spirited and adventurous – a strong-willed woman who embraced life fully. Her legacy as a devoted mother, grandmother (Gram), and friend will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Irene was predeceased in death by her parents; her first husband, Don Zuck; her husband Richard Schwint; sisters Phyllis and JoAnne; and grandson Ryan. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Steve (LeLe) Zuck of Hollywood, Florida; Tracy (Rod) Carter of Ocala, Florida; Brian (Sherry) Schwint of Buffalo, Iowa; and Ronald (Julie) Schwint of Brandon, South Dakota. She also leaves behind grandchildren Jessica (Edward) Bernauer, Richard Schwint, Amanda Schwint, Jacob Schwint; step-granddaughter Lisa (Michael) Morales, step-grandson Timothy (Kaity) Wilkerson; and four great-grandchildren.

May Irene’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
