Jeanene Maxine Heinz, 82, of Humboldt, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 in Des Moines.
Jeanene was born November 12, 1943 in Hastings, NE to Homer and Frances (Findley) Carlson. She grew up on a farm near Sutton, NE and graduated from Sutton High School. It was during high school that she met her future husband, Jim Heinz. Following graduation, she attended Mary Lanning School of Nursing in Hastings, NE where she obtained her nursing degree. Jim & Jeanene were married on August 16, 1964. Following Jim’s graduation from Physical Therapy school at the University of Iowa, the couple moved to Fort Dodge, then to Humboldt in 1974. Jeanene had a flare for decorating and loved antiques. She owned & operated the Country House in Humboldt for a number of years in the late ‘80s & early 90’s. In retirement she assisted at King’s Kids Preschool and was known as “Granny Heinz”. She took great joy in helping with this ministry.
Jeanene was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, finding her deepest joy and strength in her personal relationship with Him. Her unwavering trust in Jesus as her Lord and Savior was the filter for every part of her life. Her family is comforted by the knowledge that she has now entered the presence of her Savior—fully healed, whole, and rejoicing in heaven. 2026 marked her 50th year attending Oak Hill Church in Humboldt.
Family was the greatest treasure Jeanene knew on earth. She poured love and support into her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She also shared a close, cherished bond with her sister Linda and was a devoted aunt to her niece, Libby and nephew, Jeremy.
Jeanene is survived by her children; Jill (Jerry) Kleinschmidt of Johnston, IA, Jason (Steph) Heinz of Humboldt and Jarrod (Sara) Heinz of Harrisburg, SD, her grandchildren; Jocelyn, Jordan (Dani), Jaylen, Jaxon, Jamison (Tes), Shelbie, James, Josiah, Samantha and Hannah, her great-grandchildren; William, Tyson & Bowen. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda and husband Jim.
