Jerrold B. “Jerry” Lang, 88, of Humboldt, passed away on Saturday evening, September 24, 2022, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 26, 1933, in Fremont County, Iowa, the son of Wilbur G. and Ora I. (Matthews) Lang. He attended country school where his mother was his teacher and then graduated from Shenandoah High School. While growing up and attending school he established a work ethic as he worked at his family’s dairy farm. On November 8, 1953, he was united in marriage to Willa Dean Scott. Together they owned and operated Lang Flowers for 35 years in Humboldt providing flowers and plants to the people of Humboldt County for all occasions. He received his start working for Earl May and advanced with the company opening many stores throughout Iowa. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, was a member of the Eastern Star and proudly served in the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce.
Jerry is survived by his children Marta Kerin Sorenson, Brian (Robin) Lang and Beth (Curt) Nielsen, his grandchildren Jayson Pergande, Jonathon and Jackson, James (Shana) Pergande, Joeseph (Sarah) Pergande, Archer and Hunter, Mia Christina (Eric) Loya, Travis (Lindsey) Lang and Tyler, Troy Lang, Michael and T.J., Trent Lang, Tony (Kassie) Wyatt, Piper, Otto, Lola and Leo, Garth Wyatt, Tony (Ashley) King, Tommy (Jessica) King, Shaylee, Trayton and Carlee, Tammy King and Kaidon (Emma Coen) King, his brothers Bill (Maxine Lang, Tom Lang, Ron (Barb) Lang and Don (Marilyn) Lang, his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Darlene (Myron) Lintner, Judy (Jerry Wayne) Olson and Ron Scott as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Willa Dean, hid parents, grandson Christopher McKenna, sister Linda, sister-in-law Margaret (Todd) Simpson and son-in-law Wayne King.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.
