Karen R. Krapp, 83, of Humboldt, passed away on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2025 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt.
Karen was born October 19, 1941, in Hartley, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Dora (Jaeger) Schwarzenbach. She grew up in Lake Park, Ocheyedan and Fenton, graduating from Central High School in Fenton in 1958. Following high school, she worked as a telephone operator in Algona for Northwestern Bell and waitressed at the Chrome Café. She was united in marriage to Edmund M. Krapp on October 22, 1960. The couple made their home in Humboldt where they raised their family. Karen worked for the Eateria Cafeteria and in sales for Blakestad Drug before joining The Décor Shop and Shoppers Supply which she enjoyed the most and felt rewarded helping others in the many different decorating solutions. She was on a women’s bowling league, enjoyed watching sports, Iowa Basketball, the Vikings, the Golden State Warriors and harness horse racing but mostly enjoyed time with family and her grandchildren. Karen was a very kind and giving soul always making the holidays special and never forgetting a birthday. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Karen is survived by her husband Edmund “Boo” Krapp of Humboldt, her children; Janelle Brown and Michael (Kim) Krapp both of Sioux City and Michelle Albright of Bronson, Iowa ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, sister Iris and brother Bill.
