Kenneth L. Larson

March 31, 1931 — March 18, 2022

Kenneth Lee Larson, the son of Oscar and Viola (Thorndike) Larson, was born March 31, 1931, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm near Humboldt. Ken served with the United States Army in the Korean War.

On August 25, 1951, Ken was united in marriage to Virginia L. Knopf at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. They made their home on the family farm near Badger.

Ken farmed and raised dairy cattle for many years, farming in the Badger, Gilmore City and Rolfe area. They moved to Humboldt in 1979 where he continued farming and then retired from farming in 1989. He worked for Jet Company until his retirement.

Ken was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, American Legion #721 and was a lifetime member VFW Post #5240. He enjoyed woodworking and listening to polka music while milking cows. Ken loved gardening and canning tomatoes, salsa and sauerkraut.

Kenneth passed away Friday, March 18, 2022, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge at the age of 90 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert and Tom and a sister, Marian Daggy.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Ginny Larson of Humboldt; children: Ron Larson of Fredericksburg, Rick (Rod Mullenburg) Larson of Fredericksburg, Deb (Larry) Loss of Humboldt, Jeff Larson of Humboldt, Valerie (David) Hughes of Marion, Scott Larson of Humboldt and Jennifer (Greg) Tille of Humboldt; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Military Rites will be presented by the Patriot Guard Riders, Sathers-Odgaard VFW and the American Legion.
