Leonard T. Ferry

Leonard T. Ferry, 85, of Hardy, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

He was born November 17, 1938 in Fort Dodge, the son of Marion and Jenny (Hurtt) Ferry.  Leonard attended school through his middle school years then started working for area farmers a hired hand until he was eighteen.  Leonard then enlisted in the United States Air Force.  Following his discharge, he began a career in construction.  In November of 1961, Leonard was united in marriage to Marlene E. Lesmann in Newport, Oregon.  The couple made their homes over the years in North Dakota and Iowa, living in Fort Dodge and Des Moines where Leonard worked as a crane operator in the construction industry.  In 2000, the couple retired in Hardy.  Leonard was devoted to caring for his wife and enjoyed collecting coins.  

Leonard is survived by his son Kenneth Kent of Tacoma, Washington, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marlene, son Darrell and his brothers and a sister.  

Graveside Services with will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1^st at Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt with the Reverend Lewis Flanagan officiating and Military Rites by the Sathers-Odgaard VFW & American Legion Post #5240.  The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements.   www.masonlindhart.com
