Margaret “Peggy” Ball, 80, passed away in her home in Vista, California, with her family by her side on December 31, 2022.
Margaret was born in Fort Dodge on April 9, 1942, the daughter of Mary Eugenia and William “Bill” Quealy. She attended school in Humboldt until her junior year in high school when her family moved to Fort Dodge where she attended and graduated from St. Edmond’s High School. She attended college at AIB in Des Moines after she graduated. Peggy was united in marriage with Melvin Ball March 3, 1962. She worked at the telephone company in Fort Dodge until moving to Vista, California in 1984. Later she was employed at the Vista Courts in the District Attorney’ Office until her retirement. Peggy loved her Padres, Moonlight Theatre, her back yard, going to the beach, visiting the gorillas at the San Diego Safari Park and spending time with family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugenia and William Quealy and niece Sarah “Sadie” Quealy. She is survived by her siblings Gerald Quealy (Ginger) of Arizona, Michael Quealy (Pam) of Escondido, California, and Mary McLean (Peter) of Oceanside, California; her children Lisa Garrett-Stielau (Frank) of Hallsburg, Texas, Richard Ball (Ke) of Oceanside, California and Pamela Pickett (Don) of Bruceville, Texas; her grandchildren Jesse Garrett of Fort Dodge, Seth Garrett of Duncombe, Lyndsey Garrett-Florey (Billy) of Mart, Texas, Jayvynn Garrett and
Ze-Dynn Garrett both of Hallsburg, Texas, James Hansen and Nicole Hansen both of Hoopeston, Illinois, Jennifer Losse (Jeff) of Des Moines and Nancie Ball of Oceanside, California; 9 great-grandchildren; one niece and her nephew.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the San Diego Zoological Society. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements.
