Marilyn (Davenport) Dunn, 90, of Humboldt passed away on September 8, 2019 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.
Marilyn Davenport was born in Clare, Iowa on May 2, 1929. She received her education at St. Mathew’s School in Clare. She attended college at Clarke College, Drake University, and Buena Vista University. She was united in marriage to Gerald Dunn on June 17, 1950 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Clare, Iowa. They established their home in Gilmore City, Iowa. Marilyn was employed as a teacher for the Gilmore City school district. Then later was office manager for 27 years at St. John’s Catholic Church in Gilmore City, and was then employed for many years as Library Director for the town of Gilmore City. Marilyn later relocated to Humboldt. She was a member of St. John’s Rosary Society, and was involved in women’s clubs, as well as other volunteer work groups in Gilmore City. Her greatest interests were her family, reading, walking, and watching NFL games.
Survivors include her son Pat (Sandy) Dunn of Bedford, Texas, daughter Katy (Stuart) Scherger of Fountain Hills, Arizona, niece Mary Pat (Scott) Swinford of Scottsdale, Arizona, granddaughter Adrienne (Christian Leon) Dunn and their four children, Ella Marie, Juliette, Paul and Henri; grandson Jerod (Liz) Dunn and their three children Ethan, Charlotte and Max; Carter and Nicholas Vaughn, sons of Mary Pat Swinford. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, her brother Larry Davenport and parents LB and Margie (Fitzgerald) Davenport.
