Melissa “Mimi” Kay Collins, age 61 of Livermore, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at her home.
Melissa, the daughter of Nelson and Arlys (Borg) Hendrickson, was born March 18, 1964 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was the youngest of nine children. Melissa attended Humboldt High School and graduated in 1982. On November 28, 2014 she was united in marriage to Joseph Collins at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Melissa was a believer in Jesus Christ and enjoyed being involved in church activities, especially VBS. She also loved her Emmaus family.
Melissa loved going on motorcycle rides including a trip through Mark Twain National Forest with her husband and son. Her grandkids brought her much joy. There were many sleepovers at Mimi’s house, crafting projects and goodies baked. She also loved watching their dance performances and was one of their biggest cheerleaders. In 2024, Melissa visited Disney World for the first time with her husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. There were many laughs and core memories made. She ended the year with an unforgettable anniversary cruise with her husband to Mexico. She cherished her pets over the years, most recently Jack Jack. She loved gardening, canning and piddling around in the flower beds.
Left to cherish Melissa’s memory is her husband Joseph; daughter: Amber (Reece) Gilder of Algona, son: Nathan Roberts of Springfield, Missouri and her grandchildren: Jada, Addie and the grandchickens. Also surviving are her siblings: Michael (Beth Anne) Hendrickson of Greenwich, New York, Catherine (Ray) Stockdale of Humboldt; David (Nancy) Hendrickson of Missoula, Montana, Dan (Lisa) Hendrickson of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, Carol (Brett) Rossow of Belton, Missouri, P.J. (Cindy) Hendrickson of Bondurant, sister-in-law: Linda Hendrickson of Berkeley, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Paul Hendrickson and infant brother: Thomas.
Thank you to all friends and family for your care and continued prayers.
