Patricia L “Pat” Brock, 94, of Humboldt, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt surrounded by her family.
Patricia Louise Brock was born May 18, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Beatrice (Wolcott) Hamand. After living in Sioux Rapids she attended Morningside College where she met Basil “Base” Brock and the two were married on July 30, 1950. Bode, Iowa was their hometown prior to moving to Humboldt in 1975. Pat was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker before working at Winds Bootery and Village Kobbler.
Pat was a member of Faith United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and loved playing the chimes and participating in the bell choir. Music was her language. She sang barber shop in the Melody Moms and Sweet Adelines. She loved singing in the Community Chorus for 29 years.
Pat enjoyed people and activity ! She played Bridge, 500, was a member of church circle, the Red Hats, swimming laps, attending grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and of course color and jewelry. The family camped in a tent across the United States in over 40 states visiting landmarks and family. Pat was lovingly known as Grandma Pat to many and her spunky spirit and love will be missed.
She is survived by her three children; Steve Brock of Carter Lake, Randy (Carrie) Brock of Postville and Janna (Greg) Emick of Humboldt, her grandchildren; Tyler (Amy), Aaron (Kelly), Ryan (Isabel) Brock, Kyle (Nadine) Brock, Heather (Travis) Kalous, Sarah (Nick) Schluter, Brad (Ashley) and Matt (Jeni) Emick, great-grandchildren; Carter (Courtney), Aiden (Gracie), Noah, Cameron and Bayla Brock, Karim Abosena, Zade, Reed and Koen Brock, Hannah (Owen) Shawgo, Elijah Kalous, Ty and Mia Schluter, Mollie, Vander and Beau Emick, Kesley and Korie Emick and great-great-grandson Graham Brock. . She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Charles Hamand, birth mother, Clara Bartleson Verbeckmoes, her brother Philip (Barb) Hamand, grandson Cory Brock and in-laws, Bob and Edith Brock and Doris and Jim Funderburk.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14th at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
