Richard Beseke

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Richard Freddie Beseke, 63, of Humboldt, took over social hour in Heaven on August 30, 2026. He’s as stubborn as they come and he left this world exactly the way he lived in it: always working on a project, looking for a tool he just misplaced (or one of the kids “borrowed”), chatting up a stranger, and surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born July 29, 1963 to William “Bill” and Karen (Stockfleth) Beseke. He’d always tell you he wasn’t born IN a barn, but right beside it, as he just couldn’t wait to make it all the way to the hospital. He was raised and made a life in Humboldt. On October 24, 1992 he married Brandi Jai Schultz. They briefly moved away, but later returned to Humboldt. Together they raised 3 children, and later welcomed 4 beautiful
grandkids, who were the absolute light of his life.

Richard was one of the hardest working men and held several jobs during his years. He started work at 12 for A&W, Duesey Berger, delivering a newspaper route, scrapped metal on and off for 20+ years, Dodgen, Yacht Club, Marso Excavating, Concrete Products for 23 years, construction, Hoags, Blacktop Service, and Hy-Capacity until his retirement in August 2024. During his retirement, he enjoyed shopping with Brandi for the grandkids (as long as it was for them there was no budget) and calling up the kids to hear (or more likely share) the latest fussing. In his free time he could always be found tinkering, helping the kids with a project, or helping his brother-in-law with farm work. Even though there was always something to be done, his favorite time was spent with his family, especially his grandkids. Richard was always rooting for the lowa Hawkeyes, just to get a rise out of the family, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Richard passed on August 30, 2026 after an extremely hard fought battle with cancer.

Richard never knew a stranger, and would talk your ear off in the middle of the grocery store, if you’d let him.

Richard is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brandi. Children Josh (Stephanie), Chelsey (Bryce) Duncan, and Jacob (TaNeka) all of Humboldt. Grandkids Maya, Charlee, Layla and Finlee. Sisters Kaylene (Brian) Hoskins of Holland, IA, Kathy (Don) Kepler of Webster City, IA, Juliana (Pat) Bormann of Bode, IA. Along with many loved extended family members.

Richard was greeted in Heaven by his parents William and Karen Beseke, and brother, Ronald.

He was not a fancy guy, so come as you are. He’d just be happy you came. Chances are you always saw him in some old stained up work jeans, and his “Sunday Best holey” shirt. Get your stories ready, we’re so excited to hear them! After the service, the family invites you to join them for a luncheon at the VFW in Dakota City.
