Richard R. “Richy” Montero, 59, of Humboldt, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

He was born October 28, 1962 in San Francisco, California, the son of Robert Joseph and Diane Joyce (Pacini) Montero. He was raised and educated in the Napa Valley area and later enlisted in the United States Marines. He was united in marriage to Kendra Terwilliger and the couple made their home in Bradgate. The marriage was later dissolved. Richy worked as a laborer in the concrete industry before becoming a welder. He worked in Garner, Humboldt and later Forest City. He enjoyed sports, baseball, biking, fishing and the outdoors.

He is survived by his children, Jessie Montero and Toni Montero of Vacaville, California, Benjamin Montero and Hannah Montero of Fort Dodge and Nathan Montero of Humboldt, his granddaughter Khari, and his mother, Diane (Joe) Hernandez of Bradgate. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Gina.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th followed by military rites by the Sathers-Odgaard American Legion and Service of Remembrance at 2:30 p.m. all at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service. www.masonlindhart.com
