Robert Mccoon

March 29, 1927 — December 25, 2014

Robert McCoon, the son of Henry and Anastasia “Daisy” (Bowman) McCoon, was born March 29, 1927 at Jersey City, New Jersey. He was raised in Upstate New York and attended Vestal High School in Vestal, New York. Following his education, Bob was drafted into the United States Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Div. during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, Bob made his homes in New York, Florida, Texas, and California where he met Norma Jean Arndt 46 years ago. The couple then made their home in Colorado Springs Colorado until moving to Humboldt in 2004 and then Bode in 2006.
Bob was a salesman at heart and loved to sell cars. He enjoyed his many trips to auctions to buy vehicles of all sorts for resale. A much-feared dandelion hunter, Bob loved his yard work and strived for the perfect lawn. He enjoyed building and remodeling projects and telling stories which he tended to embellish. Above all, he loved his family and was always there to help them. He cherished his involvement in AA where he served as a sponsor and certified drug and alcohol counselor. Bob was a friend of Bill W. for over 35 years.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jean of Bode; son, Darren (Ronda) McCoon of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Gwen (Jason) Janco of McKinney, TX, Mary (Jesse) Faulk of Burlington, WI, Linda Jo Anderson of Bode, Janet (James) Butler of Johnson City, KS, Vicky (Robert) Hall of Joplin, MO, and Julie Lynn Chambless of Bode; many many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and brothers, Edward (Barbra) McCoon of Kingman, AZ and Richard McCoon of Cary, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughters, Julie Rae and Robin.
