Ronald Oppedahl, 66, passed away July 19, 2022 at his home in San Pedro, California.

Ronald Lee Oppedahl, the son of Oscar and Frances (Enockson) Oppedahl, was born July 2, 1956 in Bode, Iowa and for several years grew up on a farm between Bode and Ottosen before moving into Bode with his parents. He was a 1974 graduate of Twin Rivers High School where he was active in music and theater and was a member of the basketball team. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1978 with a B.A. degree in Music Education and received his Masters in Music Education from DePaul University in Chicago. Ron taught music for two years in the Rockwell City Community School District and then spent two years teaching music at the Nagoya International School in Nagoya, Japan. He moved from Japan to Chicago, Illinois where he taught briefly before joining the ranks of United Airlines in 1987 as a ticketing/boarding agent. He transferred with United to the Los Angeles area where he spent the rest of his career with them until he retired in 2008. Ron loved music and would often be found providing piano and singing leadership at various nursing homes in both Chicago and San Pedro – he loved sharing his gifts with the residents. He also enjoyed working with church choirs in both Rockwell City and San Pedro.

Ron is survived by a brother, Peter (Carie) Oppedahl of Sun City West, Arizona; sister, Suzanne (Irving) Globstad of West Des Moines; sister-in-law Tami Oppedahl of Sacramento, Californa; a spouse; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Anthony Oppedahl; and nephew, Matthew Oppedahl.
