Terrence E. Dwyer

Terrence Edward Dwyer was born June 6, 1945 in Indiana; the son of Michael and Maxine (Berkhimer) Dwyer. He was raised in Humboldt where he graduated from Humboldt High School in 1963. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Harvard University and later received a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Michigan.

Throughout his career, Terrence worked as a journalist and held numerous leadership positions in the health care quality and medical review fields. He served as Executive Director and CEO of the Virginia Health Quality Center and the Empire State Peer Review Organization. He was also active in numerous professional and community organizations.

Terrence proudly served in the United States Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Captain and serving in Military Intelligence.

Terrence died Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital at the age of 81.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Kenneth Dwyer and Maxine Marie Berkheimer, and his brother, Thomas Richard Dwyer.

A private burial will be held in Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt.
