Vernie Donald Boomgarden, the son of John and Tillie (Loger) Boomgarden, was born February 4, 1931 in Woden, Iowa. After helping on the family farm, Vernie enlisted into the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he retuned home and married the love of his life, Stella Tiedens on June 13, 1952. To this union, four children were born. Vernie spent many years as a Field Service Technician for Gibbs Cook Caterpillar in Fort Dodge. After residing in Badger for 35 years, Vernie and Stella retired to Humboldt. Vernie was a resident of the Long Term Care Unit for five years and never lost his smile.
His joys, besides his family, were helping his neighbors and friends, riding his motorcycle, and traveling.
