William Short

December 27, 1946 — October 23, 2017

William Short, 70, of Humboldt, passed away October 23, 2017 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2017 in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
William Short, the son of Hugh and Margaret (Ehmke) Short was born December 27, 1946 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Humboldt High School. Following his education, Bill served as an MP during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and went to work for Humboldt Concrete Products. He married Jeannie Kay Hjelmeland and the marriage was later dissolved. Bill worked as a crane operator fro Sande Construction in Humboldt for 20 years. He was also employed by Marso Excavation.
Bill enjoyed woodworking and construction. He loved the time he spent with his family and his son will always remember his support and love. He is survived by his children, Billy Short of Manson and Amy (Jonathon) Allan of Urbandale; his grandchild, Damon Allan. Bill is also survived by his sister Jane Styer
and nieces and nephews, Toby Short ; Julie (Seth ) Wright, Chris Short; Amanda (Gary) Eagan; and James (Kelly) Styer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Margaret Short; sister, Susan Short; brother, Robert (Bob) Short and nephew Jeff Duro.
